Solving a Problem Like Layla

Thanks to her tenacity and the fact that she went absolutely nowhere without a notebook or two, she had made a name for herself as a go-to girl for one of the larger newspapers in the city. She took copious notes, seemed to really dig herself in deep to a story when she found unanswered questions and most importantly, always made deadline.

Getting her to talk about herself was fairly easy, and she was friendly, kind, intelligent and oh yes, not bad on the eyes either. The trouble with Layla was that she could be quite forgetful. Little things mostly and especially if she was somehow kept from making notes in that ever-present notebook. There was something about that notebook that seemed to keep her train of thought better than she could do without it. It kept her secrets, and was her prized possession. Always there by her side, not even in her purse because it was just that important.
